Sleep Apnea

Early detection & diagnosis are vital when it comes to snoring and sleep apnea.

No dentist is permitted to diagnosis sleep apnea. However, Dr. Segal has been trained in dental sleep medicine and routinely collaborates with physicians who specialize in traditional sleep medicine to treat sleep apnea patients.

Accurate diagnosis involves recording a variety of body functions during sleep. Conducted in a hospital or clinic, the test for sleep apnea employees a polygraph that senses and measures twelve or more parameters. The test includes video monitoring.

Another diagnosis option involves a compact, ambulatory device with two finger sensors attached. It measures the same values as the hospital-based test. Your physician would provide the device to you for use in the privacy of your home the evening immediately after an initial consultation.

Reimbursement with co-pay is available through most medical insurance companies.
